"You'll like this class, Cora. Don't worry. And plus you're sitting next to me." Which meant...Elliot wouldn't let Cora completely flop the class.
Elliot could be helpful. VERY. If she wanted to be. Cora smiled at Elliot, who was definitely in nice mode, and her mind was at ease. Cora knew she would be fine, but her smile was still a bit off. SPOILER!!: Hannah Quote:
Originally Posted by PhoenixStar Hannah raised one eyebrow at the girl that introduced herself as Cora. Timid and nervous...interesting. She wondered if she was merely scared of the subject or the presence of Hannah. Most likely the latter. She just knew that she radiated power and that would be enough the intimidate anyone. Hannah looked her up and down very slowly so the girl would be fully aware that she was being sized up. She glanced at her friend Elliot with a look that said explain! Like explain how you are friends with this girl.
Still she decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and besides it wasn't as if Hannah had a lot of friends so maybe just maybe she shouldn't be so judgemental right off the bat. "Hello Cora...pleasure to meet you." She said in her I'm soo much better than you are voice and I am only giving you a chance because you are Elliot's friend. Cora noticed Hannah's surprised expression. She noticed the hesitation with which Hannah responded to Cora. Cora noticed Hannah's judging look, and that she clearly wasn't AS friendly as some of the other students Cora had met. Cora hadn't noticed this before.
Still, this didn't phase her. Hannah did seem a bit intimidating, which Cora did react to a bit, but Cora could tell there had to be more to her than this. Besides, Cora had already been freaking out about DADA, so anything else seemed less scary. And she was Elliot's friend, which should say something. For some reason, Cora always saw the best in people, and this wasn't about to stop. She just knew she wanted to be on Hannah's good side. That shouldn't be hard for Cora. She was generally easy to get along with. Ignored? Yes. But not hated.
Cora smiled. "It's nice to meet you, too" Cora said happily, wanting to communicate something along the lines of "I respect that you are cooler than me but I'd like to be friends anyway or at least friendly, and I won't step on too many of your toes". Cora turned her head slightly back towards the professor, to see what was happening, hoping that Hannah would like her. SPOILER!!: Elizaaa Quote:

She had thought Defense Against the Dark Arts was going to be a lot of action and spell learning, but maybe – since it was lesson one, they would start off slowly. She was thankful for that. “I wouldn’t want to take anyone’s eye out on accident.”
Watching the professor go into what she called The Lotus, Eliza tried to match her position. “Okay...” observing the way Professor Romanos put her feet on the tops of her legs, she realized this would be difficult. “And it’s only the first instruction,” she thought. Eliza sat cross legged and tried to pull her left foot up over her right knee. “Okay, that wasn’t so hard.” She breathed out. “Now for the next one.” Getting her right foot to also come up was a whole other story. She pulled and pulled, but each time her left leg just slipped off again. “I’m definitely not as flexible as she is.” Exasperated with her lack of flexibility, Eliza settled on sitting plain cross legged for now, until she was able to stretch further. “Now what?” she wondered. Sitting patiently, she wondered if she’d be able to whisper to Cora without getting them both in trouble. Hearing how quiet it was in the room though, she decided not to chance it …yet. Cora turned slightly to get into the pose. What was it again? Locust? Oh, Lotus. She was not bad at yoga, and happy to be at least doing something simple to start with. Even though she wondered what yoga had to do with DADA, she didn't mind.
As she turned, her curls bouncing, she noticed Eliza out of the corner of her eye. Waving slightly and smiling, Cora returned to her pose, looking to Elliot a bit for a model of how to be sitting. Elliot had way more experience than Cora. All Cora knew was what could come out of a book. |
