Nell smiled as she placed her purple ball, which looked a lot like a snitch except for the color and the indentations, on the starting place. Straightening up her eyes went to Edmund to check his progress. Furrowing her brows she watched Ed figure out which side of the putter goes where. She wasn't going to mention the one side of the metal object has grips which indicates where your hands are supposed to go.
When he finally did figure it out she smiled at him and shook her head. "So, you want to go first or should I?"
He felt like a complete idiot now. Nell had just picked it up and worked it out without any trouble. Grinning embarrassedly at her as he scratched the back of his neck with his free hand, Edmund noted that she'd put the ball down on the floor. He definitely wanted her to go first since he couldn't even look at the putter and work out which way was up. He picked a blue ball up for himself and smiled back at her.
"Ladies first."
