They could be such a burden sometimes.
Maybe it was time for a change.. something that would bug Elliot, and make her more noticeable to Jared.
Ha.
Elliot shrugged..."
He's a transfer...so he has to be sorted..." Yep. And hopefuly he would be a RAVENCLAW! Hopefully. "
And yes, Fishface, I promise," she said grumpily...her stomach rumbled in parallel.

A minute later, he saw her, talking to a couple of girls. Not wanting to interrupt, Jared slowly made his way around to the opposite side of the table, so she could see him when she looked up.

She hissed at Elliot between clenched teeth.
Please Elliot. Whatever you do.. don't embarrass me...
She begged the girl mentally. As if THAT would help...
Elliot glanced up...as Jayden whispered that THIS was Jared...hmph. Elliot fixed a smirk on her face and...extended her hand...
"Hello, Jared. NIce to meet the man my friend here has been talking about...so much about you, actually," she shot a smug little sneer at her friend..
HEEHEE.
"
You're quite the looker, which, as you know, has to be a must for my friend." She continued, her voice having a cool but dangerous tone. The guy was treading in deep water. Better be careful.
Elliot was testing him...testing the waters. Hmph. And if he failed...well, Elliot could make it HELL for him.
"She deserves the best," she ended it there, glancing at Jayden....
She smirked smugly at him, then at Jayden...and then back at him. She raised an eyebrow, as if DARING him to say anything rude or impolite back to her.

He fell silent when Elliot started explaining the history of her name, and could only stare when she finished. Finally he spoke "Doesnt your father have any confidence in you or women in general?....That you can manage a family fortune just as well as any man?" This wasnt an idealist talking-- his Grandmother managed the Vanderbilt empire, just as many other formidable women in that bore their name, Muggle or Magical.
His attention shifted back to the firsties being sorted and can see Lottie's head bobbing in an out amongst the crowd "A protege?" he repeated Eliott's words, a small smile forming on his lips "Well.... she feels like a little sister to me already..." he said with a casual shrug. "She seems quite impressionable that one....do teach her the right things ok?" Which is what he was hoping to do this term-- the only chance he'd have to leave some sort of impression on the young girl.
Oh, he was American, too! Should have known...his accent. HEehee. Americans were fun, weren't they? FUNNY! Hmph.
Normal? Elliot frowned..."I thought what I had was normal. But I've been coming to realize lately that my upbringing isn't, in fact, normal at all." Private tutors..living in a manor..having a house elf...never lacking for anything? Elliot considered herself lucky.
Elliot merely stared at him. For a second. What was he getting at? She frowned. "No...but...it's just not pureblood nobility custom," she said as if it were common knowledge..."I mean...I COULD rule our family perfectly fine. It's just not tradition...and we're VERY traditional..." she didn't know how else to explain it. Sure, it wasn't modern. But it was...and ancient pureblood thing. Surely this boy couldn't be pureblood. He didn't understand. "And my father's a bit..." she shuddered. His rage, his harshness, his ice..."crazy." Yep. Leave it there.
WHOAH THERE.
No no! She was SO ELLIOT'S SISTER! But she grinned a little..."Oh, she'll be learning from the best..." she said, running her hand through her blonde hair casually..
Speaking of..

Her eyes found Elliot between her loudly thoughts and she came to a stop next to the girl. "It's a mistake." It has to be. The biggest mistake of them all. It's...not even something that could happen. Can you imagine how everyone would feel back at home? What her father would say about her being a Hufflepuff? Sure, her dad said it didn't matter, but she didn't feel the same way.
So, blue eyes on the Ravenclaw girl. Help? "I don't belong with Soapy." Elliot knew this.
She saw Lottie being called...watched as the hat did its thing..
NO.
It just couldn't be. IT COULDNT BE!
Elliot kicked the chair next to her over, regardless of whatever unimportant individual was sitting in it, and pulled up a chair..."
Sit. Now." she ordered, her eyes narrowed in worry..poor Lottie...POOR WITTLE WOTTIE.
"Lottie...you'll be fine. You'll bring honor and glory to that..." she refrained form wincing, sneering, or doing anything negative,
"house. He must have made a mistake, though, Lottie..." but WAS that possible?
ANd Soaps. She bared her teeth angrily. "
I swear, Lottie, do NOT get friendly with THAT! You hear me? You are better than her. Remember that," she said, putting her arm around the little girl comfortingly. She then slid a glass of water her way.
"Drink it. You're...shaken."
She was stil shocked. SHOCKED.
