Pull yourself together, Doyle.
He was sure the first year was picking up on all his fake-y-ness so he changed subject because food was a bit too close to his core. "First year, then?" he asked the kid. "What house did you get sorted into?" He couldn't be bothered to pay attention at another boring first year sorting. He remembered putting that hat on. Ravenclaw, it had yelled. Even though he'd been sure he was a Gryffindor, but that was just 11-year nonsense. Yes, he remembered his first year. He'd been the same awkward, lonely boy he was now.

Okay then...Lex leaned a bit further from him when he began talking in a hyper tone. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate his enthusiasm because really she did. It was just that she had never seen an older kid give such a ...a weird greeting in response to her own. Lex was expecting him to scowl at her or something...like some of the other older students had been doing all evening. She liked this one; he was different too so she gave him a wider smile before giggling a bit.
"You're funny you know that? I'm Alexa." BEAM.
Was it that obvious???
"Uh yup! I just got sorted into Gryffindor but I got bored of the table so I decided to walk around for a bit." That was pretty much it. The 11 year old had never been very good at seating in one place for too long.
"And what year are you in?" She asked, staring up at him with curious brown eyes. He was definitely in one of the higher classes because he looked a lot older than her.
