| |Who's On First? | Challenge Accepted.| | :Ink For Blood: | Team SUITS!| Elinor's mouth dropped open for a few seconds when she saw... everything. It reminded her of the kind of detail her parents would have demanded. But she pressed her red lips together again when she had recovered herself and re-affirmed her hold on Nigel's arm, distractingly rubbing one white-gloved hand over it, as though confirming she didn't have to be here alone.
Elinor had felt that she didn't own anything nearly fancy enough when she had recieved her invitation-- And her feelings would have been correct. All these years, her mother had been trying to throw money at her for a fantastic dress, and finally, Elinor accepted it. She had purchased a green dress, as opposed to the purples she was accustomed to. It felt strange to own something that clung to her waist... But her inner woman told her it was a good feeling.
Around her neck was a collection of what she was certain was real pearls. Right now, they felt like they were choking her. Her white gloves reached just past her elbows, and in one hand was a white pocketbook containing her invitation. Her red-brown hair had been left to its natural bounce, but she secured it behind her head with a glittering clip in the shape of a small feather.
Her green eyes swept back and forth, and she recoiled into Nigel slightly, honestly a little frightened of this. But, as her mother had taught her, she kept her chin up. She was more nervous than anything of Nigel discovering exactly why she was here... She was too embarassed to mention that she had written a story in which he was the main subject, and that it had been published. All she had said was that she had been invited to a formal party, and she didn't want to go alone.
She looked up to the man on her arm, her eyes wide with anxiousness. "Thank you for coming, Nigel."
She took in a breath and plucked up at least a little bit of courage. She wasn't sure exactly what was going to happen, but she could handle it. That's the spirit.
