Jumping a bit when someone spoke in her ear she turned to see Waylon. When did he get there? He wasn't there when she came back up to the table was he? "Please tell me you're not leaving too." If he said he was leaving too this would officially be the worst day of her life. It would be just like when they were students and they all graduated a year before she did.
They would be leaving her behind... again.

Cece could just ignore his very important question about the food and jump right into questioning him. Although, he thought that whole answering a question with another question thing was wrong and if it wasn't illegal, it should be. Now what was he supposed to say? He could, of course, ask another question, maybe one not food related, but that would be even more wrong and the Healer was going to find out sooner or later. Like, next term when he would be nowhere to be seen. Not that that wasn't unusual, since he often missed the feasts. But he was SURE she would know something when some other Groundskeeper was sitting next to her. Yup, better to just let her know now.
Clearing his throat, he leaned away from her a little, and even though he was still sure there was something wrong with the food, he began piling
stuff onto his plate.
"Well.." he began,
"I was going to tell you sooner, but I forgot.."
He needed to get that fixed.. or something..

Leaning even more away from Cece, so that his chair was practically standing on just its back legs, he turned his head towards the other end of the staff table and waved his fork in his friends direction. And maybe if he couldn't see all that well, he might have believed that William needed cheering up. He didn't look a bit upset. And Waylon would rather deal with a hopefully not going to cry Cece than whatever was going on down there. He would not be used as a human shield! Again.
"You told him about you and his sister?"
If not, he knew now, didn't he?
