Nigel wasn't fully aware his expression was any different than it had been just moments before. Or that it had been all goofy and lovestruck and fawning all over Elinor unlike his more reserved expression of feelings towards the woman in front of him. Or did he? He didn't answer at first on Elinor's question as to his feelings, still getting used to whatever it was that was happening to him because of what was in the cup. Let alone trying to put it all into words.
Certainly not tea...that was for sure, his mind clearing from the effects and finally getting his voice back.
