The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion Did she want an answer to that question? Was it even a question? Lewis had not really expected her to say something in reply so he glanced back up, blinking at her a couple of times in surprise. "Yes...that's what he said anyway." He replied slowly, thinking about each word carefully before he said it. Maybe the envelope didn't contain notes after all. But Jonathan had promised him that it didn't contain anything dangerous or anything.
So all he had to worry about was the envelope itself. And the effect it would possibly have on Kurumi.
He felt a lump forming in his throat and he swallowed a couple of times to get rid of it when she finally let go of his hand to open the envelope. It was tempting to just reach out again, take her hand back in his, throw the envelope into the fire and forget about it all. Only he couldn't do that. That wouldn't be right. Even though the urge was becoming more and more unbearable as he felt as if his heart was breaking a little, seeing Kurumi like this. Seeing her reaction to this.
To these sheets of paper from Jonathan.
Because they really were only that. And watching Kurumi's eyes fill up with tears broke his heart a little more. For two reasons; 1. because seeing Kurumi cry was always terrible for him to witness and 2. because of the reason she was crying. What was she going to do if she talked to Jonathan in person? He didn't know, and he wasn't sure he even wanted to know. His brain was working on overdrive as he tried to figure out what it meant, what this reaction from Kurumi meant. For them. For their relationship.
Watching her closely as she slowly put the sheet onto her lap, Lewis instinctively leaned back a little, shifting away from her slightly on the couch. He felt...left out somehow. As if he wasn't supposed to be here right now. As if he wasn't supposed to see this. As if he just wasn't part of this. Should he leave? Did she want to be alone?
He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before focusing his gaze onto the envelope again, not quite able to look at Kurumi directly. "What...what is it?" His voice was unusually husky and he started fumbling about with his robes nervously, his heart pounding inside his chest. |
