But it wasn't until just then that she noticed another person in the room. Actually, a person right beside her. Merlin, she could be so unobservant. The girl had been silent. So.. maybe that was why she hadn't noticed her?

She washed her hands, taking her sweet time. But it wasn't until after she had finished that she noticed the girl's face. There was something very wrong. Her eyes were red and puffy and Brooke's heart almost sunk. Poor girl. "You alright?" she reached out to touch the girl's shoulder.
