Simon tried the spell once more but again nothing happened. It had worked for the professor and he was sure that he was doing everything just so. The second year had just wished he’d had a chance to actually practice in front of the professor. Then he’d know what was wrong.

Have to spell it right to say it right. Scratching out his mistake, he copied it correctly into his notes this time around. The boy murmuring the incantation before finally casting it with wand.
"Petrificulus Totalus!"
There...he was now the proud owner of a frozen bat.
