* Edgar Burroughs SPOILER!!: Research
"The American author, Edgar Rice Burroughs was born on September 1, 1875 in Chicago, Illinois. His father, Major George Tyler Burroughs was a Civil War veteran. Burroughs served in the 7th Calvary in the Arizona Territory from 1896-1897 and the Illinois Reserve Militia from 1918-1919. After he left the military, Burroughs drifted between several low paying jobs, and by 1911 he was working as a pencil sharpener wholesale. This is when he began to write fiction during his spare time. He is best known for his creation of the jungle hero Tarzan and the heroic Mars adventurer, John Carter. Burroughs wrote almost seventy novels in many genres, mainly Adventure, Lost World, Science Fiction and Fantasy and Westerns. Most of his writing was done on his ranch which he bought north of Los Angeles, California which he named Tarzana. Burroughs was residing in Hawaii, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, and applied for permission to become a war correspondent, making him one of the oldest for the U.S. during World War II. After the war ended, Burroughs moved back to Encino, California where, after many health problems, he died of a heart attack on March 19, 1950.
Examples of Edgar Rice Burroughs' works:

* Eric Carle SPOILER!!: Research
"Eric Carle is a children's book author, so I nearly skipped him over, but let me tell you--he has some awesome illustrations in his books! He draws all the pictures himself, too. So despite the fact that he writes for four year olds, I thought I'd include him in my essay for the illustrations alone. Who knows, maybe the stories are good, too! Anyway, he was born June 25, 1929, and so far, ...he hasn't died either! O_o I bet he needs four canes just to walk. Anyway, he also wrote his stories in America. See, PROFESSOR! I went out on a big limb! Not only did I research Muggle authors, I researched ones from a different country, as well. Anyway, some of his famous books are The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Busy Spider, The Grouchy Ladybug, and The Tiny Seed. I think I see a pattern here--creatures and herbology! So of course I think our last author could use a good Care of Magical Creatures or Herbology class. Maybe his next book could be "The Very Angry Venomous Tentacula? Who knows!"

* Suzanne Collins SPOILER!!: Research
"She was born August 10, 1962. So far, she hasn't kicked the bucket, but seeing as it's 2078, and she's fairly old by now, Merlin rest her soul. She's an American author, so that's where she wrote her stories. Her most famous series is The Hunger Game series, a story that centers around a girl named Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is forced to compete in an event called The Hunger Games, yet she's also plotting to end the games once and for all. The first book is called The Hunger Games, followed by Catching Fire and Mockingjay. These books are classified into several different genres, which include trilogy, adventure, dystopian, science fiction, young adult, alternative history, and action novel. Actually, what I think Katniss needs is one good charms class and a few Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, and she should be good to go. I nearly hate to say it, but I think I just might look into this Muggle author."

"She was born December 24, 1973, which is nearly my parents' anniversary! Like Collins, she hasn't kicked the bucket yet, but Merlin, she must use some really good anti-aging cream! She's what? A hundred and five or so by now? Anyway, she's an American author, as well, so that's where her stories were written. In my opinion, her most famous series is called the Twilight series. Oddly enough, this is a series that sort of reminds me of our wizarding world. Well, they have werewolves, which is at least one similarity. The vampires are a little different, though. The humans actually fall in love with and marry the vampires! That's just not done here in our world, but hey, I guess that's why her books are made up, whereas our world isn't. The first book in the series is called Twilight, and it's followed by New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. All books follow the story of Bella Swan, a human, and Edward Cullen, a vampire. These books are also classified into several different genres: romance, fantasy, and action.You know what I think Bella needs? The Ministry of Magic. Yeah, that's right. Doesn't she know we just don't mingle with vampires?!"

* Lucy Maud Montgomery SPOILER!!: Research
"Lucy Maud Montgomery was born on November 30, 1874 in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She died on April 24, 1942 after publishing twenty novel and five-hundred short stories and Poems. Orphaned by her mother at an early age, Lucy rather identified herself with the poignant Anne, from Anne of Green Gables Series. “Anne of Green Gables” was a series written by Montgomery with the books Anne of Green Gables (1908), Anne of Avonlea (1909), Anne of the Island (1915), Anne of Windy Poplars (1936). The series continues with married Anne and Anne as a mother in Anne's House of Dreams (1917), Anne of Ingleside (1939), Rainbow Valley (1919) the series ended with her daughter in Rilla of Ingleside (1921). Another series of hers that I thoroughly enjoyed was about Emily in Emily of New Moon (1923), Emily Climbs (1925) and Emily's Quest (1927). Emily however I found rather frustrating at times due to her tendency to burn her manuscripts up if someone didn’t like them. The genre of her work was mostly children’s fiction."

She died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on May 21, 1920 and was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery. Her main genre was children’s literature, yet she wrote adventure stories and romance fiction. Her most famous novel (which I have read) is Pollyanna (1913). In this poignant tale is about a young girl orphaned who remains positive and upbeat. "He was born June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, which would make him another American author! He's still alive, so as far as I know, which leads me to ask--do authors just live forever?! If so, remind me to start writing my life story this afternoon. He's written series such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus. These two series follow the lives of children who have one earthly parent and one parents that's either a god or a goddess. The main character of the series is Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon. Percy is sent on quests around the world, where he has to defeat monsters in order to stay alive. Sounds a bit like our famous Harry Potter, yes? Anyway, some of the books in the series are The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, and The Last Olympian. The genre of these series is divided into two parts, adventure and fantasy fiction. As with the last two series, I recommended something in our world that would help the characters in the series. Percy needs a wand. Yes, a wand. Why fight with a sword when you can just cast a spell?! Duh, Percy!"

* Nicholas Sparks SPOILER!!: Research
"He was born December 31, 1965 in...you guessed it! America! What's with all these American authors living forever, hmm? Remind me to travel to American before writing my life story! So, as with the three before him, Sparks wrote his stories in America. He, too,m hasn't died yet, which leads me to say--what's IN that American water?! Anyway, he's famous for writing LOVE stories. Eww. Really, Sparks? You're a dude, and you write LOVE stories? Okay, I'm sorry, but I just have to say it---what a PUFFER. Some of his most famous books are called The Notebook, The Last Song, Dear John, and A Walk to Remember. One amazing fact about his novels is that they've all, as far as I know, been made into movies. Which leads me to say, maybe he's more of a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw. I mean, he sure did take his wealth and go far with it! The item in the wizarding world that I think could most benefit the characters in his books is AMORTENTIA. Their drama would be lessened so much if they just magic their troubles away!"

"He was a Brazilian writer. He started to write novels when he was 22 years old. The author had his original methods of writing. In the beginning, he would choose the scenarios where the characters would move. Then he would transfer to this place and do rigorous studies there. To write the novel Arara Vermelha, he travelled 450 leagues in the brute wilderness. Next, he builds all the novel, determing even the sentences of the dialogues. He had a memory that, for a long time, allowed him to remember every little detail of his studied scenario. He relates that after finishing writing the first chapter, he passes to the conclusion of the novel, without even elaborating the plot.
