Even though there were always people crowding about the little pond, Taryn liked this spot the most of all spots on the grounds. It had everything to do with August, of course, so whenever she got a new letter from him, as soon as she could, she would hurry down to the pond to sit and read.
Sometimes that meant sitting through a class squirming and not paying attention because she wouldn't let herself read the letter before she got to the pond. No matter how long it took her to get there, she was there every single time, in all weather.
Today was another one of those days, so Taryn settled herself in her spot and ripped open the envelope, eager to read the letter.
Milton was being grumpy. Ticked off. Peeved. Annoyed. And many other emotions like those. He was also relieved, but that was at the bottom of the list now that his wand was gone. Grrrr.
And NO, he was NOT going to get over it.
Oh, but look. It was Taryn! Which meant his day got a little bit better, and of course, more exciting. He spotted the envelope in her hand and plopped down on the frozen ground next to her.
