The sixth year didn't have much time to dwell on it either for Stella was asking him if he was sure he was ready. Simply nodding in response, Gideon closed his eyes figuring it might help assist in preparing for the change in gravity, his legs almost feeling as if he should be kicking off like he would to fly a broom. He heard the familiar words...imagined the wand movement that he couldn't see at the moment.
And suddenly he was off his feet!
And off the ground a few feet. Um...okay...that was weird. Nothing was keeping him up but the spell and the magical effort of the Ravenclaw in front of him and he felt awkward without the broom that HE himself could semi-control assisting the process. "Woah..." he let out, his legs floating in front of him as he lost the straight-upright position. The quidditch player started to try and compensate to regain his balance, using his arms to work on steadying himself. It only seemed to be half-working though as his body was far from evened out. But thankfully he was at least right side up and not upside down. Stella had known as soon as she'd spoken in French that the likelihood that it wouldn't get a reaction was slim. Therefore, the raised eyebrow from Gideon was rather expected, but then at least she hadn't continued. At least she'd caught herself after the simple phrase and gone back to English. It was better to just continue the activity than to spend time explaining that she'd only said 'of course', after all. Especially with Professor Bellaire already on the warpath due to the earlier fracas, so the nod she'd received in response to her question if he was ready was definitely welcome. She would rather not have cast without that reassurance, considering it was her first time levitating a human being. Honestly, it was her first time levitating anything living, but she wasn't going to tell her partner that and destroy whatever preparations he'd done.
She had actually closed her eyes as she'd cast, knowing her aim was good enough that she wasn't about to levitate anyone other than Gideon and also not entirely sure she could handle watching herself accomplishing the charm and forcing someone else to go through what she already had experienced. She involuntarily had opened her eyes as she'd felt the spell leave her wand, though, and they widened as she saw Gideon up a bit higher than she'd expected. Not to mention his own reaction as he'd realized the same thing, and tilted off balance a little. "Um," she said, trying to figure out if she could manange to right him again and only thinking of lowering her wand the slightest bit. At least maybe that would lower him and then he could catch onto something to straighten him out. Something other than sort of float there at an angle, making her worry he was two seconds from spinning around like some of the others had done.
