69. Slap

"Jezzabelle wait!" Her father yelled after her as she ran and hid behind a different tombstone. She could stop the sobs and the shaking. She hadn't realized he had found her and pulled her into his arms until she heard him shushing.

"Dad, what does mooch mean?"

"He was lazy and did nothing," her mother answered before her father could.

"He was not!" The young girl said standing up and crossing her arms. "He loved me and cared for me when you didn't."

SLAP! A red mark began to form and the tears built again. Her mother just smacked her.
