"Cos you're not scared! Why aren't you screaming ?!" it was so super scary, he should've been screaming just like she had. Well, okay maybe not as high pitched because Brooke's scream was VERY high pitched.
Brooke nodded her head very enthusiastically. "I fink so." It was a magic school, surely they had lazers of magic for protection ? Lazers that BURNT people who werent meant to be here, Brooke was gonna be here forever though so she'd never get burnt by any lazers, so it was okay for her. Brooke had seen a movie about someone who nearly got burnt by lazers, or was it a tv programme, then the other fish had got slicedead by the lazer!

"Don't stick your tongue out a me!" Darwin gasped indignantly.
"It isn't! I didn't put my hands over MY ears when you were screaming, and I was only SHOUTING to stop you screaming because screaming is BAD and you'll probably get everyone running here thinking you're DYING." He wasn't sure which 'people' he meant - maybe ghosts or teachers or portraits or other students - but he knew that screaming would make people come.
"Yeah but you COULD'VE hurt them! What would you have done if I'd become DEAF? You'd regret shouting then, wouldn't you?"

"I know... it's not THAT scary. And I don't scream. Boys don't scream. I'm twelve now, twelve year olds don't scream! I mean, twelve year old boys don't." Because it was okay that Brookie was screaming because she was frightened.
This was too weird to think about. Darwin shook his head.
"But... But everyone's got wands, why... why do they need lazers?!" Wasn't magic protection enough? WAS THIS SAYING THAT THERE WERE SOME THINGS THAT MAGIC COULDN'T PROTECT THEM AGAINST? That was a scary thought, a very very scary thought, and Darwin didn't like it. Not one bit.
Especially seeing as he didn't have a wand right now.
