But then he was complimenting her again, or rather her hair, but it was almost the same. Her blue eyes were on his, and she doubted that was a safe thing to do considering he was having problems voicing out his thoughts. Or rearranging them.

Then he made her feel terrible, "No, you shouldn't stop," talking, that's what she meant, "I mean, thank you," she smiled, sweetly this time as her cheeks held some rosy color. And no, it wasn't the heat.

That...was not what she meant, actually, because Hogwarts was growing on her too quickly, and so were the people in here. "Oh, I know, it's nice to have options, no?" for everything in life. Whether it'd be career choices or living quarters. There was one little thing in which having 'options' could bring unwanted trouble. And drama.

For a moment there she found herself wishing they could get that cup of hot chocolate right now, but if it was his company what she wanted more than that cup, then she'd stay here. "I'll make sure to find you, then," she kept her promises, so the first time she was feeling like taking a trip to the kitchens, she'll find him, wake him up, or whatever. He was going with her. His other statements got a nod as her face held that same smile. He knew so much, probably been here from year one.

Not even the ducks could distract her right now, though she'd been feeding them with the piece of bread without noticing. However, his hair did distract her for a moment as the sun gave way to the orange bits in it. THEN it happened.

Socially inept? Instant frown.

She didn't make an effort to try and conceal it. He didn't strike her as someone who'd be socially inept. And his lack of female friends couldn't be blamed for that. Boys tended to get along better with other boys, and make quicker friendships. The fact that she didn't know where this was coming from didn't help. It didn't help because it meant... she didn't have to accept his compliment?

He did it again.

Right when she was about to comment... he spoke. Faster and slightly more awkward than before, and all she did was smile. The 'GIRLFRIEND girl friends' part she didn't see coming at all, because she understood what he meant from the start. So, the smile was definitely necessary, this amused her. And now she knew far more about him than he probably wanted her to know. Her silence probably wasn't much help at all, but he hardly gave her the time to interrupt him.

By the time he said she was amazing, her cheeks were already that same rosy pink as before, only her eyes seemed to be less blue and more gray as she smiled at him and then readied herself for a...small speech. "Keefer? I don't think you're socially awkward... you just speak too much, not that I'm complaining or anything," it was cute, and amusing, and it made her smile, how could something like that be wrong? "And I haven't discovered those things, you just stated them," she nodded, her hair giving off silvery sparks that she couldn't see, yet she hoped it didn't become a distraction, "I am amazing, though, so thanks for that," her tone sweet and calm didn't match his former one at all, she was suddenly afraid she'd say the wrong things that could drive him away into that nervous state he'd been. As long as she kept talking she'll have his full attention, no?

It seemed she'd fed all the bread in her hand, because she found it without a crumb. She still had more to say, only she took his hand for this, or place hers on top of his, rather. "Yet you seem to be at a small disadvantage as I know more things about you than you do about me," would it help if it got a little balanced? "I have as many female friends as male ones, back in Sweden, at least," she didn't comment on the 'socially awkward' part for a reason, "I... I'm also single," that was some unnecessary information to share, but the disadvantage had to disappear, "My favorite color is orange," this was vital information for the next statement, "And so I like your hair, because when the sun touches it...," and her hand too, considering it had moved from his hand to his hair and brushed a strand of it that lay on his forehead, "...bits of orange flashes at me." Now they were even.

Well, that surprised him. "I shouldn't?" Cue confusion. Because he was pretty sure he was making a fool of himself. Unless she likes seeing me make a fool of myself. Somehow he doubted that. She didn't seem that mean. "Then you're welcome." He gave her an uncertain smile.

Well yes, options could be nice. But only in some cases. "Not if you have thirty people all show up for Chaser tryouts. Then you're overwhelmed by how to decide. So.. sometimes?" However, his fear was actually not having enough people show up. Then he was pretty much stuck with whoever came.

"Well good, it's a date!" Er.. "I mean, you know. Just.. let me know. You know where to find me." He was tempted to bury his face in his hands, but he bravely kept his gaze on hers. Apparently he just couldn't talk around her without being idiotic. She may as well get used to it.

Her frown made him unhappy.

But for some reason, she said he wasn't awkward. Seriously? Sweet! But she wasn't done. Speaking too much.. but she didn't mind. Alright. Her next statement made him literally open his mouth into a small 'o' shape. She was right, he had just said those things of his own accord. He tilted his head and scratched his scalp, wondering how that happened. Then he laughed, a full-bellied laugh that helped to relieve some of the tension he was feeling. Her affirmation of her own awesomeness amused him and somehow helped him feel a little less dumb.

That had been a nice little speech to help him feel more relaxed. But then.. he felt the soft touch of her hand, and the next thing he knew, his palms were sweating enough to drop a Quaffle. Why was she doing that? Did she want him to run away in panic? His eyes darted down to register the reality of this moment, and so he almost missed her next words. Gulp. Eyes back on her, he sat and listened to her, leaning closer to hear her better over the loud thumping of his own heartbeat. The fact that she seemed to have lots of male friends bothered him, but as he couldn't have told her why, he let that go. Her mention of her current relationship status caused him to sit up a bit straighter, but he also couldn't have explained that particular reaction. Orange.. why is she telling me this? Not that he minded, but that certainly hadn't been in the rambling he had done a moment before.

As quickly as it had come, the light pressure on his hand vanished. He barely had time to recognize the slight disappointment this brought when he felt her hand brushing his hair. In that moment, he had never before been more thankful that he didn't let his mother cut his hair over the summer. His eyebrows darted into his fringe, his gaze desperately attempting to see the act. Mental note: I should come outside more often when it's sunny. Yes, Marius. Apparently your hair does a similar thing to hers.

As she finished her speech, he swallowed through the lump in his throat several times. When he finally found his voice, he couldn't think of a single intelligent thing to say. So he settled for, "Well then. I, uh.. I guess we're even now!" He gave a nervous laugh. Then some Gryffindorness reckless abandon came over him and he suddenly had the urge to ask.. "Have you ever been to Hogsmeade? Because there's some awesome stuff there, you know." He didn't elaborate as to what that awesome stuff was. "And the first weekend is next month. You should go with--" The bravery suddenly left him and his eyes widened. Realizing he had to finish his sentence, he cast about for a person. Any person. "--someone." Fail.
