And that needed no further explanation - anyone looking forward to exams was an idiot. "Superman! I know about him! He's the one who can't go near... Kr... Kryptonite?" She remembered that one because it reminded her of her brother. She'd called him Kryspinite for ages after she'd found out about that. Though to be honest, she'd never actually watched anything to do with Superman... or read any of the comics. Hmm...
OOH! The queue was moving. Aurora's stomach rumbled. "I am so hungry..." she said. "Um, Delilah, do you know how to use this muggle money?" she asked quietly, looking down at the two notes and the silly coins in her hand.
Delilah looked at Aurora somewhat blankly. She wasn't quite sure why people and boys and drama would make everything awkward. "Oh. I see." Blink. Blink. "Well... No. I don't. Not properly." She glanced at Aurora in a way that said 'but you don't have to explain it to me, it's fine, honestly!' then watched a muggle boy for a moment. Then Aurora mentioned OWLs. "Oh, yes. Those. I'm not really looking forward to them..."
Her eyes lit up when Aurora said she knew about Superman, her opinion of the red haired girl raising a little. "You do?!" She nodded enthusiastically, "Kryptonite, that's right! Deadly stuff. Well, I think. I don't understand the whole story yet, I'm still trying to learn it all." She'd promised herself that she wasn't going to tell anyone that, but she decided that Aurora could probably be trusted with such information. Mostly seeing as though Delilah herself only knew a little bit more than Aurora did.
...
Money?
Delilah shook her head, and took the note out of her pocket. £20. She didn't even know what the '£' symbol was for. "I haven't got a clue. I just hope I've got enough." Considering she had a Muggleborn dad - who GREW UP around Muggles and with all their silly conventions, you'd think he'd have passed on some of the information. But no. He didn't think she'd ever need to know about these things. Pfft.
"You'd think they'd bother to teach us these kinds of things in school, wouldn't you?" She added, quietly. |
