First of all Draco may have hated Harry, Harry hates Voldermort and maybe Umbridge... but she doesn't hate Draco.

... Mere causality? Saving You, Your Mother and Father, not to mention THE WORLD AS A WHOLE (as this was not going to stop at the wizarding world) is a mere causality?

No No No...

Look. I see what you are saying. And to Harry (A Gryffindor like you) it is a matter of principle, but to Draco that's different. Harry didn't have to save anyone in Draco's mind. He could have run away... he could have hidden as he had all that time he was searching for Horcruxes. And if he hadn't found it to be a matter of principle, he would have let someone else go after Voldermort. Any self respecting Slytherin would have convinced Neville HE was the chosen one, that HE was the one who should go after Voldypants.

It isn't girl stuff! I didn't say they were going to do each other's hair!

Snape and Sirius have a lot of history of Sirius being a jerk to the kid. Snape had a bad childhood, no friends except those who wanted to use him. He was cruelly teased and humiliated by the cool kids.

Draco had friends, he was a leader, and he wasn't teased. He was the one who did the teasing. He just wasn't brave enough or strong enough to fight against the dark lord. He was CUNNING enough to LEAVE the battle and let the others get killed instead.

Friendship can develop from that. I'm not saying they became BFFs. But there is a level of respect Draco probably feels for Harry, that would have led to some sort of friendship. Plus if some other baddie comes along and threatens Draco's way of life... you want Harry on your side. And don't give me any of that "Matter of Principle" stuff... You are looking at it from Harry's view... not from Draco.

So Draco WOULD want to be Harry's friend and he is a better man for it. He became a father who seems attentive to his son. That makes him a better man too.

Harry on the other hand would give Draco a second chance cause he IS a Gryff, and gives people second chances.

You didn't disappoint me... You proved you are in the right house luv!
