Huh.
Everybody seemed to be ignoring Ainsley's presence. And she wasn't sure whether to be grateful or offended by this. Sure, she wasn't a Career tribute, or from District Twelve, who seemed to be gaining a lot of publicity this year. But she was still a contender. And a tough contender, at that. Her expression turned hard as she scanned each and every face in the room. They all seemed to be getting on, and Ainsley rolled her eyes at that. Twenty-three of these people would be dead in a matter of weeks, and they were there introducing themselves before the imminent kill? Her eyes lingered on the District Twelve tributes. Momentarily holding hands. Idiots.

Roland was going to be dead meat, unless he gets an axe and the arena is a forest full of trees, but even then chances of winning were small. The boy walked towards a weird looking chair, at least he thought it was chair, at the corner of the room, he sat on it, not wanting to grab someone attention, and waited for something to happen that would break the silence.
What was she supposed to do? Find an ally? Or go it alone?
Her mentor had told her to go it alone, brave it, but Ainsley was beginning to doubt herself. Her eyes fell upon a boy that had actually noticed her earlier. Why on Earth hadn't he approached her? The girl wasn't a killer yet. But maybe he just preferred being a loner, like she did.
Preparing herself for instant rejection, Ainsley took a deep breath then made her way over to the boy from District Seven with a winning smile. "
Hello." She said in a serene voice. She took a seat next to him and allowed silence to follow for a while.
Err...
"
This kinda feels like a freak show, huh?" She watched the others in their stupid outfits, nattering away. Yes, being away from the crowd suited her better.
