Entry 12

Twas the night before Christmas, no one was in sight
Not even in Diagon Alley, ’cos it was a cold chilly night.
Gringotts was all closed up, all the Goblins were asleep.
There was no sound to be heard, not even a peep.

Back at Hogwarts, while all the kids were in bed
The house elves were busy, because soon they would need to be fed.
So they cooked up a feast, it was a sight to behold
The clean cups and dishes, they were shining like gold.

In the Great Hall, 12 Christmas trees were floating up in the air,
If one looked really carefully, they would swear they could see pixies helping up there
Decorating the trees with colored tinsel and glass balls
All helping and working while singing “Deck the Halls”.

Eyes were opening, although it was only dawn,
The students were ready to welcome this beautiful Christmas morn,
There were presents to open and gifts were exchanged,
But then it was time, into regular clothes they all changed.

Then down to the Great Hall, to their House Tables they did go
First for the announcements and then on with the show
Lions and Badgers and Eagles and Snakes,
They all agreed to give House rivalry a break.

For today was Christmas, and for those who didn’t go home,
Hogwarts would be where they would celebrate, they wouldn't be alone.
It was time to dig in, the feast table was full
With all kinds of food that would make anyone drool.

There were pot pies, and turkeys, a roast beef or two
There was mash potatoes, and Salami and sausages too.
There was treacle, and jello and pudding made of jam
There were all kinds of sandwiches, even some filled with ham.

Everyone dug in for famished they were
Then they all washed it down with all types of juice and for some, butterbeer.
And once they were done and they all had their fill
Out they all ran to play on the hill.

And in the sunshine, they played in the snow
They threw snowballs at each other, their faces aglow
But their peace was shattered when a noise they did hear
A loud HoHoHo and the sound of reindeer.

It's Santa one kid said jumping with glee
I remember him cuz I once sat on his knee
And told him what I wanted for Christmas and all that good stuff
I only had to tell him once and that was enough.

So all the other kids waited for Santa to fly down
But it wasn't that big fat jolly man in red who landed on the ground
It was a dirty old man dressed in red PJs, who was then followed by his broom
He said, "Hi there everyone, do you guys here have room?

There's no place at the Leaky Cauldron, nor at The Three Broomsticks Inn
So I took to the sky and went for a spin
I've been flying around to find a place I could stay
I need a place to rest my head, at least just for one day."

So Hogwarts it was for the strange guy in red
The students showed him around and then to his bed
They thought they would see him later that day
But when they came to find him, he was gone to their dismay.

But in his place they were all very surprised to see
More gifts and presents then there ever could be
And in the far distance they could still hear a loud HOHOHO,
Merry Christmas to all at Hogwarts and to SS staff, HAPPY HOLS!
