Turning back to Louisa as they gave each other a hug, she proceeded to tell her friend all about the term. "It was really good. I made three best friends already." Lily said proudly before continuing on. "And part way through the term, I had to go to the hospital wing because I tripped down the stairs... you know the ones that move... but then I got to go back to classes and I went to almost all of the Quidditch matches... I want to try out for the team next year, so I'm going to get a broom and practice at home in my backyard..." The little claw paused to catch her breath and grin at Louisa. "And then I took my finals... I think I passed... and now I'm here with you." Lily ended by hugging the fifth year again. "What about your term?" Somehow, the firstie was able to fit her entire term into a paragraph... or at least the important points...

... but her mind didn't latch on the worse yet.

Throwing her arms up in frustration, Louisa moved her gaze to all three of her alumni friends. "What's with you guys? I go AWOL for a month and some get married while others got amnesia?"

Louisa nodded her head at Lily's first year recital. She even smiled genuinely at most of it! The girl had obviously stepped out of her shell. Hugging her back, Louisa felt something in her chest tighten at Lily's last words. The little girl thought much of her. Maybe even too much. Louisa wasn't that much nice or the role model kids should look up to or anything. Yet Lily didn't seem to mind her.

Her term? Internally scoffing at that, Louisa shrugged. "OWLs mostly. It's why I didn't get to spend much time with my friends. All of them," she bumped Lily's arm gently. "Although my boyfriend... left. And is not a boyfriend anymore but that's okay." Louisa didn't want to talk about boys in front of twelve year olds. That was inappropriate, right? Right.

Just as she was about to ask something else, something flickered at the corner of her eye. Louisa looked at the staff table and saw Althea and Eddie... Charading? "Wow, professor Roslund must've spilled the beans," Louisa said carefully, watching the scene. It was obvious that Althea wasn't very impressed. Hopefully she wouldn't decapitate the messengers of his letters while seeing all red.

With her attention back to Lily, she smiled. "Well. Let's talk about something cheerful. How about summer, your plans?"

Vashti nodded at Lily's question. "Yeah, I am," she replied. "This'll be my last feast at Hogwarts." Which did make it kind of sad, and she was really going to miss the elves' cooking, but...she'd be okay. It wasn't the end of the world.

...Louisa seemed to think it was though. Or something. She obviously wasn't taking any of this well. "Nobody's got amnesia," Vashti told her. "Anakin and I broke up." Therefore, no boyfriend. It was really that simple.

Because pffft, like she could ever forget about Anakin.

She knew that she didn't have to, but she just felt as though she should - even if the gesture was ridiculously small compared to the impact that the Ravenclaw had had on herself as a first year. It had been her first baby step towards accepting flying on brooms as something natural.

She never really did embrace this, however, considering she still needed to attend Professor Vindictus' brush up lessons at the beginning of each term. But that wasn't the point.

"Have to and want to are two very different things," she laughed softly. "I...I don't know if you are pursuing Quidditch after this, so think of the broom as...more of a metaphor." You know, flying through life like a true Claw sort of thing.

Kurumi took another look around the Ravenclaw table and tugged on her sleeves some more. She probably should start heading back to her own table soon. "I just want you to have that...and...to say thank you. You've really been an inspiration."
Since there were no protests...Vashti decided it was okay to open the small package. She listened to Kurumi as she did so, turning her eyes to look at the Gryffindor while her hands worked quickly on opening the gift. She couldn't help but smile as the prefect mentioned "have to" and "want to" being different. That was very true, and that was part of the reason why Vashti really appreciated the gift already.

She managed to open it just as Kurumi continued, and her expression changed briefly to one of surprise before returning to a soft smile. A career in Quidditch wasn't really her thing, but that didn't mean she would stop loving the sport or flying. And, of course, it reminded her of Professor Vindictus' lessons, including the one she had met Kurumi in back in her third year and Kurumi's first. It seemed like only yesterday and yet so long ago at the same time.

And...an inspiration? Her? Vashti wasn't sure she'd ever done anything very inspiring...but she was glad someone thought so, and that that someone was Kurumi.

Still holding the small now-open package in one hand, she gave Kurumi a hug. "Thank you, Kurumi. For the gift and your kind words. I'll cherish it always." Pulling away, still smiling, she added, "And just so you know, I've always really admired you." Who wouldn't admire and look up to Kurumi though?
