"You didn't have to get me anything," she said kindly, though she accepted the gift. Kurumi surely knew she didn't have to get her any sort of present anyway, and the fact that she still had was incredibly sweet. Unexpected, but incredibly touching.
And...should she open it now or should she wait? She knew some people who preferred the present to be opened immediately, but she also knew some who preferred not being around when gifts were opened. Which did Kurumi prefer?
Kurumi bowed her head sheepishly as she was accustomed to do in these sort of situations. She knew that she didn't have to, but she just felt as though she should - even if the gesture was ridiculously small compared to the impact that the Ravenclaw had had on herself as a first year. It had been her first baby step towards accepting flying on brooms as something natural.
She never really did embrace this, however, considering she still needed to attend Professor Vindictus' brush up lessons at the beginning of each term. But that wasn't the point.
"
Have to and want to are two very different things," she laughed softly. "
I...I don't know if you are pursuing Quidditch after this, so think of the broom as...more of a metaphor." You know, flying through life like a true Claw sort of thing.
Kurumi took another look around the Ravenclaw table and tugged on her sleeves some more. She probably should start heading back to her own table soon. "
I just want you to have that...and...to say thank you. You've really been an inspiration."
