The badger answered the next question, "Well - he loved her, right?" She questioned, "He would want to save her." Quote:

She heard others' answers, and agreed with all. Yup, maybe it was like love at first sight? She raised her hand up and answered, "Professor, maybe because it was a case of love at first sight... and maybe because she was a princess... actually I think the latter might be the real reason" Because Ira didn't belive in love at first sight. Yup, Ira agreed with the general opinion that the Prince had his own selfish reasons.. Scabior shook his head. "Believe it or not," Which she ha better. "It was not because of love. That is the fairytale version of the event. SPOILER!!: Hero Complex Quote:

The hero complex...Ella's mom was always saying that her dad had one...liked to save people and all that. Quote:

Wouldn't anybody want to go through with something if it'd bring them so much more in the long run? Only Hufflepuffs would believe all the true love mess. He nodded."Absolutely. You are correct. However, the Wizard was not a Prince." He had never said he was. Quote:

He listened to the next question and raised a tentative hand "Leverage Professor?" the Ravenclaw started "Leverage on several fronts-- the Wizard could've been a rival of the Hag... Hag thinks she's outsmarted everybody but here comes the Wizard upending her plans, proving to all that he was better than her. And certainly being the person that saves the King's daughter will sway many things in his favor." And the kiss? Why even bother coating it on his lips? "...And I guess most guys would grab the opportunity to kiss a pretty girl." he mumbled sheepishly in the end. It was true, specially one that without a doubt wont be dodging it. "Yes, most guys would." He said with a light chuckle. As for his other comments? Basically right. Quote:

He waved his hand."Please be a cynic all you like, because that is absolutely correct." Quote:

While notions of true love were...nice to think about, and even caused the Gryffindor to flush a bit. Truth was, that sort of thing just...didn't happen, did it? Kurumi raised her hand, surprised that she had rather Slytherin thoughts about the motives for this wizard. "Perhaps he wanted to gain the king's personal favor? Saving the princess, especially in the way he did, would certainly catch the king's attention." And make him set for life. "Correct." Scabior nodded. Things were so much better now that the Gryffindor knew how to answer a simple question without breaking into a speech. Quote:

Maybe she'd been so off that he couldn't even think of a way to insult her answer, because he basically had done that to some of the others. It was discouraging, but at least she could prove herself to Professor Lafay. She hadn't messed up her potion yet, after all, but that became more of a question as she'd heard Professor Scabior say her name after clearing his throat. Looking up from her cauldron, she blinked as he'd continued speaking. Obviously setting up another mini-lecture, but he'd said she'd been right. Not only that, but he'd quoted part of what she'd said while she'd been thinking about how much she disliked what Leticia the Hag had done. He never did that. Usually he insulted people if they'd said something intelligent.
She was definitely paying attention now, in any case, as he'd gone on to discuss the wizard who had saved the princess, and Leticia's mistake. Points taken from the hag, obviously, if she'd honestly thought that nobody else would have known about the Draught of Living Death. It seemed to her like the wizard had himself been hiding, though. It didn't seem like anyone in the castle had thought of potions. Curses and magic, but nobody had thought of the potion, or to brew the antidote. And she found her hand raising almost involuntarily. "Was anyone else actually magical in the situation? Isn't it possible that Leticia had thought she'd be able to get away with her plan because she'd thought that she was the only magical being around? Some muggles believe in magic, but they don't understand that it's real, after all." There wouldn't have been the need for the Statute if they thought it was all real. "The wizard might have been living amongst Muggles, even royalty, thinking that there wasn't anyone else who had the skills he did. he'd pick up on the suspiciousness of the situation because he would have known about the Draught of Living Death. Saving the princess could mean that he wouldn't have to live in hiding anymore. Technically." Even if he had to pass his kiss off as true love conquering all, he still would have the knowledge that his magic had saved the princess. And she could assume the wizard knew enough to work with what he had in front of him, spin his story to his benefit. "There are flaws in your ideas. Remember, this happened back in the Medieval times. Anyone accused of being a witch or having magical powers were burned so, this wouldn't change anything. He would have still had to live in hiding." But now he was just going on about things that didn't matter at the moment. Scabior smiled, an actual pleasant smile. He was shocked, and at the same time, proud of most of their answers. Excellent little cynical students they were.
At least for now. "Most of you got it. The Wizard basically saved the Princess to get something out of it. He thought, if his hunch was right then he would get paid for saving her. And if his hunch was wrong, at least he would have been able to say he kissed the Princess. He had lived as a normal citizen under the King and Queen but once he saved the Princess he made something up about how he did it, and received piles of gold, and was knighted." Moral of the story, always save people if they are rich.
But seriously. "Leticia Somnolens was never heard from again, but it has been rumoured that she accidentally pricked herself on another item laced with poison intended for the Princess once more, and died." Karma was an amazing thing. "And, I would say that this event is probably the most thought of when both The Draught of Living Death and The Wiggenweld Potion is mentioned in the Wizarding world.....so that's all." He stuffed his hands in his pocked before turning to Hecate. Yes. Scabior was done his part of the lesson.
