Benjamin couldn't believe that ANYONE couldn't know who Batman or the rest of the Justice League was... That was his entire childhood. The New Yorker had nothing to say... Except: "Yes.... The Muggle comic books." Ben grinned a grin that said, 'really?' Quote:

Ah, there was Gabe now. "Morning," Wes returned the man's greeting, glancing back to Cade with a nod. "Right, so since we're all here, let's get down to business."
He flicked his wand at his drawing of the basic training stations he thought they should have and enlarged it, then sent it floating toward the center of the oval of chairs so that everyone could see it.
"As Izzy might have mentioned in the memo, we're trying to organize a department-wide cross-training of sorts, where one person from each division would be placed on a team with other people not from their division. These teams would travel to and learn from various stations being led by each of us, the division heads. Our ideas so far include the following stations: Disguise, Interrogation, Hand-to-Hand Combat, something like Crime Scene Investigation, Counterfeit Magical Objects, perhaps one on Reading Body Language, and son on. Whatever else you guys want to add or lead is probably fine."
He shrugged a little and looked at the other leaders in the room for input. "We were also considering the idea of making this training something of a competition, like the Muggle Olympics...." More food for thought there. Wolverine? No, no, no. That's Marvel, not DC. Benjamin really wanted to blabber on about how that was a TOTALLY different universe, but he was at work and it was not even worth it. So, as the presentation began, Ben leaned back and watched- interested in the "plan."
Benjamin liked the idea of teaching all of their employees through "stations." But, that seemed very elementary. They should already know this stuff before we even hire them. Ah well. It's hard to find good geniuses these days. And when body language was mentioned, that peaked Ben's interest. Expert on the topic! Right here!
A competition? Oh boy, a competition! Ben leaned forward and smiled a bit, before adding to the conversation. "I like the idea, personally," he said to the group. "Might I suggest we add deduction to that list of ideas... Goes with body language, but it takes it that step further." Benjamin already knew everything he needed to know about the people in his room, but he took a quick glance around anyway... It fit. "Seems like it could be a lot of fun," Benjamin added in a friendly voice. Quote:

So he stayed quiet, continuing to sip his espresso as he waited for that time.
His gray eyes shifted to the sketch as it floated above the center of the table, though, noting everything as Wes had mentioned it. It was a good idea, if not technically entirely creative. "There was a Ministry-wide event not that different than this years ago, shortly after I'd started working here. When Carlton was Minister," he said once things seemed to have been made open to contribution. Except for the fact that instead of the stations Wes was talking about, everything had been organized by level. "And that was a competition as well. Whoever got through all the levels first got a prize. It definitely gets people thinking about more than just what they were hired to do." He had his certificate in his desk somewhere, last he remembered. It reminded him that he was really part of the old guard, honestly. Most everyone in the department that had been around then had moved on by now. Benjamin almost let out a laugh when Dorian mentioned that. "I won that," he said. And he nodded along to the rest of what he said. Ben leaned back in his chair again and looked around wondering where this whole thing was going to go... Ben liked teaching. Hmm... Maybe, I'll teach once I'm done with this business. |
