Kurumi's eyes momentarily widened when she relived that day at the lake inside her head. Wait, was he avoiding her because of...

Kurumi blushed. She still didn't know what to think about that. Not only what he had been feeling and thinking, but her as well. If made her uncomfortable and it wasn't Lewis' fault for that.

"I've been...alright," she finally replied. Neither good nor bad, just sort of coasting through every day life and studying for OWLs to keep her distracted. News from home was always the same thing, the disease was progressing...but Kurumi didn't think that Lewis wanted to hear about that. "Lewis...I'm sorry for...putting such a burden on you." You know, all the emotional stuff which was probably what caused....that to happen in the first place.
When it took her some time to reply, Lewis did finally glance back down, feeling just a tiny bit awkward to be staring at her for that long. He should probably feel awkward staring at her in the first place. Especially because he wasn't any good at reading facial expressions anyway so there just was no plausible reason for him to look at her face for so long.

Well, except for the fact that somehow he just liked looking at her face.

Which he shouldn't.

Glancing back up at her when she did finally reply, Lewis frowned, actually frowned at what she said. "What, no! You don't have to apologize. I'm...glad you told me." He had even got up from his seat as if that would help her see that there was absolutely no need for her to be sorry. No need. He kept his distance, however, so it would be a little easier for him to say what he said next. "I'm sorry for just...leaving you down at the lake." He muttered, this time pointedly not looking at her but rather down to the ground.
