Ella decided that before she tried to cast on the niffler again she had better try and produce the purple smoke successfully. She held her wand out in front of her and said, "Malin Calin!" When nothing happened, Ella let out a sigh, upset. Come on, El, you can do this. Shaking off her annoyance, Ella held her wand up to try again. "Malin Calin!" This time, Ella was relieved to find purple smoke coming from the tip of her wand. "Yes!" She said cheerfully, looking down at the niffler with a triumphant grin.

Ella pointed her wand down at the niffler and made the circular motion with the flick towards the niffler. Suddenly, a wall of purple smoke engulfed the creature. A small smile appeared on Ella's face as she watched, fascinated. "You okay, little niffler?" She asked softly.

Next Ella was supposed to pet the creature. This posed somewhat of a problem for Ella as she was partial to her limbs and wasn't sure what the niffler would do to her when she tried to place her hand on the creature's body. Deep breaths, El. You're going to be fine. You're not going to die in this seminar... With determined look at the niffler, Ella slowly extended her arm forwards, placing her hand gently on the niffler. When her hand wasn't immediately bitten, Ella began stroking the creature. "There, see? Nice niffler. We can be friends after all." She continued to pet the creature, amazed that she wasn't being attacked.
