But... She turned to Hunter--was he mad at her? GREAT. She hated it when people got mad at her. Now she was REALLY going to cry.

Trying to control her voice, she poked him on the shoulder.
"Hunter, I'm--I'm sorry." VERY, very sorry.

Hunter slowly picked up Milton and placed him onto his lap, not caring that his clothes were getting wet and muddy. He looked down at the duck and pet him, while the other ducks went back to playing in the water. Who in the world knew that having a duck would cause so much commotion?

Once the words left Hailey's mouth, though, Hunter's heart sunk. He knew she didn't do it to try and kill the duck. And he also knew that she knew nothing about ducks. How could she? He didn't know very much until he researched. Placing Milton back into the pond, Hunter reached into his bag and pulled out a book. "Before you throw another duck, I advise reading this." He looked up at her and half-smiled and then turned to look and make sure the ducks were still doing okay.
