She didn't want to sound so blatantly desperate, "I did a lot of studying this morning and afternoon in case I needed to take a break for the rest of the day." Louisa thought this was a good hint. Emrys was very smart and he should get it.
Once they were close enough, she let go of his arm and of Viola -the cat happily jogged away from them- and ran forward. "Tadaa! The duck pond." She turned around to face Emrys. "Is it really the first time you come here? You're depriving yourself from nature's beauty." The girl held on to her bag then and moved closer to the pond, they needed a good spot where duckies could come and play with them. "Where do you think we should settle on?"
Emrys nodded at the appropriate times - or what he thought were the appropriate times - as Louisa spoke about her classes. He blinked a little bit in confusion when she mentioned taking a study break for the rest of the day. Because of him? He wasn't entirely sure what to make of it and was puzzling through it when he noticed she'd let go of his arm.
He laughed.
"It is. Like I said, I've pretty much kept to places that people don't go. This seems like it must be a pretty popular place." He took a minute to look around, turning slowly as she moved away from him.
Thinking about her question, he scratched his chin.
"Close enough to see the ducks clearly and enjoy the scene, but far enough that if they decide to come and steal our food, we have enough time to react." He walked to the pond's edge and turned, backtracking a few paces. After a moment's pause, he set the basket down and opened the lid, grabbing a blanket from the top layer.
"Here seems good, don't you think?" Emrys spread out the blanket and set the basket on its edge.
"Great view, safe distance," he added, gesturing awkwardly to both the blanket and the surroundings.
