Apparently, Ellie's dislike for pink nearly overruled her fear of books. Or maybe it was because it was just the one book out. Anyway, it was quickly deemed safe and the redhead actually became quite curious about it. Especially since that was all she could see of her table-mate. "You know, I don't think you can really read anything that'll help in this lesson." She couldn't quite tell from the emblem of his robes, because it was also obstructed from her view, but she'd guess he was one of those Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs that liked to know the material before it was taught.
And, though she wouldn't know personally, Ellie didn't think 'Entrancing Enchantments' would be taught in a book. They just seemed too silly.
Is she still talking to me? Why is she still talking to me? Panic flashed in Emrys' eyes, mercifully obscured by the book, a bead of sweat popping up at his temple. Sitting up rapidly, he slammed it shut and slid it - cover down -
"What? This? It's not- I mean- different class - not.. - reading for fun, I mean.. It's not important." He propped his elbow on it and leaned on his closed fist.
Smooth.
He glanced down at it, to make sure the spine was also facing away as he turned in his chair to face her.
"Sooo, enhancing enchant... no, enchanting enhancement- I mean.." His tongue tripped over itself, refusing to say the right words.
He grimaced and sighed.
"Emrys," he said, sticking his clammy hand toward her, but refusing to look to see her reaction to his idiotic bumbling.
