Before he could say anything, however, he felt her hand in his and immediately, he felt blood rush to his cheeks and ears. He knew that his ears were nearing the point of practically glowing red.

"I meant it," he stammered, looking at their hands and then up at her. He stepped as she nudged, careful not to trip over his feet. He could hear his pulse in his ear and he hoped his hand wasn't getting sweaty. She. was. holding. his. hand.

"I don't have any particular destination," he said, looking back at her. "Lead the way." And please let it be the long way, he added to himself.
