Not that Kurumi knew what those motives would be if there were any. So, she just nodded at his yeah and continued to walk.
Yes? Kurumi cocked her head to the side like a baby owl and sort of just blinked at him. Yes? Had Kurumi asked a question? Was she that distracted that she forgot what she had asked? Not wanting to make a fool of herself, she sort of just glazed over the yes. Whatever it was, she had asked or not asked as the case was she had received a positive answer and that was really all that mattered.
So, they had said their good nights, but now it seemed sort of weird to just...walk away like that. Kurumi was tempted to bow as a means to say thank you for working with her this evening, but she never bowed to friends. Hugging was something that her friends did, but she was still a little awkward with hugging - unless that person was Jonathan and then she was perfectly fine with hugging. Still...she wanted to and even moved her arms to sort of do so before stopping herself and...taking his hand in hers to give it a shake.
A handshake?
You, Kurumi Hollingberry, had just stoop to a whole new level of awkward. Lewis was still pondering on her suggestion of asking permission to be staying out here all night. How in the world was he going to get out of that one? Maybe he could just suggest that they'd do the stargazing inside? Like in the observatory? Would Professor Roslund give them permission for that? It WAS for school after all. Or they could just ask a professor who would never ever give them permission in the first place. Like...Professor Scabior or something.
It was only when he glanced back at Kurumi and found her sort of staring at him with her head cocked to the side that he realized that he should probably pay better attention to what was going on NOW. He could worry about the other things later. Okay. What had he said that made her look at him that way? Seeing as he tended to be even more socially awkward around Kurumi than other people lately, it could have been anything. Hopefully 'anything' hadn't something completely weird or embarrassing. Like asking her about her boyfriend or something.
He DID remember wishing her good night so that was usually the moment where they would part ways, right? Somehow he couldn't move his feet however so instead he just lingered there, feeling just a little awkward. He really didn't know what the protocol was here. So instead he just trusted Kurumi to come up with something. Which she did it seemed. Hang on, was she going to hug him-
No, she didn't. Instead she...shook his hand? Okay, even HE had to admit that that was somewhat weird. "Right. Erm." Lewis stared down at her hand in his for a moment, wracking his brain for something to say. Well, returning the handshake seemed like a good idea. So that was what he did. And even though this whole situation was beyond awkward, he held on to her hand just a second longer, glancing up at her for a moment. Right, he should probably leave. Like now.
And with that he did drop her hand and took a small step back, without turning just yet however. "Right." He'd said that already, hadn't he? |
