Any girl he had ever gone out with had not only wanted something for Valentine's Day, but expected it.

"When's Valentine's Day?" he spoke, ignoring her questioning tone accidently as his mind wandered to this topic, his light brown eyes stuck to her expression with vague worry shining through.

Cornelius's presence alone was reassuring enough, but his voice added a new layer of calm. She wasn't convinced this specific letter was possible yet, but at least she felt... better. Cornelius was here now. Automatically better.

She looked up when he asked about Valentine's Day. Aspen watched him just a tick, then nodded like she agreed. "You're right. There's no guarantee he'll get it in time." Aspen scratched out that part of her letter, then spent the next few seconds frowning at her letter. It was now 2 words... only.

"I don't have to ask how he is; he'll let me know." Leon, Aspen's father, was well aware of her worrying issues. He'd not let her worry.

Aspen put her quill to her lip thoughtfully and again lifted her eyes to Cornelius. To her surprise, he seemed a little troubled. "....What?"
