They didn't need to get into details about Horcruxes.

The story of Salazar Slytherin and his Chamber of Secrets. It was an interesting one, maybe especially since Sierra was a pureblood Slytherin. Again, she didn't agree with ridding the school of the Muggleborns, but it was still interesting to listen to the history involving her house's founder. She found herself raising her hand even before her answer fully formed in her mind.
"The diary was a horcrux, so it had part of Riddle's soul in it," Sierra pointed out.
"The diary ended up in Ginny Weasley's hands, and she communicated with Riddle through the diary." Sierra paused and made a slight face. That communication just creeped her out.
"It was through this connection that Riddle, or Voldemort by then, convinced Ginny to reopen the Chamber."
