Salazar Slytherin. Not the best man in History. "Good guess Mr. Gert, its not exactly correct but If someone did manage to find the opening to the tunnels it would still be extremely difficult for them to find the actual chamber."



"Slytherin yup." He nodded at those who were correct. "And yes, he did create it so that he could place his creature- A Basilisk inside to try to rid Hogwarts of Muggleborns." Salazar Slytherin was an intense man.



"Right, you mentioned something that we'll actually talk about in a second." Scabior nodded.



"He did not create a giant chamber simply because he was bored." Scabior shook his head.



He nodded. "Nice guesses." He was being so kind today. "The issue of it being hard to actually get through the tunnels to find the real chamber was probably why dead ends were created, and a small reason to why the tunnels were created. Just in case someone was actually able to get down there."




"You lot-"Scabior pointed at the ones who answered."Basically hit the nail on the head. Making it hard for people to find the chamber was only a small factor. Actually creating a way for the Basilisk to get around without being noticed was the big issue, and Slytherin was able to do with with the tunnels and plumbings."




He raised a brow. "Snakes shed their skin. That snake was probably cleaner than you are right now, sitting on the floor." He smirked.




Scabior shook his head. What was said was wrong but more importantly "I doubt Salazar Slytherin was scared of much Miss Trewhella." After all he was THE Slytherin.



Scabior blinked. Now he was certain. Ravenclaws were going to be the death of him. Probably starting with this one. "That could have been a possibility Miss Odessa, but you have to think about the fact that if Slytherin really loved his creature so much, why would he just leave it?" Yeah kid, the history books were probably right....the had sources and stuff.



"Nice note about the plumping. Some passages and tunnels may very well have changed over time, changing the layout that Slytherin had initially." So maybe at first there were no dead ends at all?



He shook his head. "It's the opposite actually." Think about that.



Woah. A lot of information given in a small amount of time. "Well....i'm certain that that's not exactly why, but....at least you are thinking. Makes sense too." Good job thinking? They could have even been true.



Scabior snorted. "Yes. Slytherin had many things to hide from the other founders." He answered simply. Cute answer kid.

"So like some of you said, the Chamber of Secrets was created by Salazar Slytherin." No big secret there he assumed. "Salazar did not like the fact that Muggleborns would be allowed in the school. The other founders disagreed with that. After many fights he decided to leave the school, but not before creating the chamber." Scabior was rushing slighting, most of them knew this right?

"He created the chamber to hold the Basilisk- a creature that can kill you simply by looking at you, which Slytherin intended to use to rid the castle of any Muggleborns. Slytherin wasn't planning on doing this himself though. Why? You're guess is as good as mine." He paused. "My guess is simply that true Slytherins get other people to do their work for them.? There was nothing wrong with that "Anyways, Slytherin left the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets and said that his rightful heir would arrive and take care of the Muggleborns."

"The other founders searched for years and they were not able to find the Chamber. And then no one thought anything of it until the heir arrived and the chamber was opened in 1942." He looked around the class. "Any one care to tell me who the heir was? And maybe even some of the events that happened once the Chamber was opened the first time?"
