For a minute there he had considered trying to perform the wider shield Professor Romanos had told them about, but then decided to go with what he was most comfortable with at the moment.
Without much of a warning, except for a small smiled, he did a firm d movement with his wand and said, "Expelliarmus!" She did see that coming, right?
Kurumi smiled as Kennedy deflected her spell - as was to be expected, but she hadn't been counting on him countering INSTANTLY!
Eyes wide, Kurumi's first instinct was to duck and cover, but her wand hand acted on its own, making an arcing movement ending with a quick horizontal slash. Realizing what her body was doing, Kurumi's brain registered the rest. "
Protego!" JUST in the nick of time, Kurumi's magical shield went up and blocked his spell. The rush of adrenaline had her ears pounding and she took several deep breaths before speaking.
"
A l-l-little bit of a warning would have been nice," she laughed shyly.
Or...was that his way of challenging her to a little duel right here and now? Hmmm...
"
Expelliarmus!" she said, countering with her own.
