His excitement, like his smiles, were infectious. Aspen paused to marvel at him, his smiling and how sometimes the shade of his eyes seemed to match the exact shine of his hair. She probably studied him longer than was appropriate or "normal" but she DID eventually snap out of it.

She rummaged in her bag and pulled a small box, one that easily could have been concealed in her palm. The wrapping paper was blue with a bit of silver ribbon to make it pretty. The outside didn't really matter though, it was the contents of the box that was important.

"You don't have to get me anything," she replied sincerely as she put the box on his knee. She left it there for him to retrieve, all grinny and still excited. Aspen honestly wouldn't be bothered if he didn't get her a gift ever. She just wasn't the type. Aspen LIKED presents, and she had been known to actually ask her father for things from time to time, but she never expected them.
