He'd surprised her by inserting the French title into his response anyhow, and then by the fact he seemed to think she'd pronounced his name well. "I am?," she asked, curious. Does everyone stumble over his name, then? Worse than I did?, she wondered. She didn't quite get the chance to ask, though, as Professor Romanos had spoken and instructed everyone to start practicing the Disarming charm. Curiosity needed to take a back seat to safety.

Moving to a clear spot in the room as charms started flying, she glanced at the Slytherin again. "I guess we should start practicing," she said, gesturing with the wand in her hand. She didn't want the professor thinking she wasn't willing to participate, after all, and she wasn't particularly worried about the spell. She just wanted to make sure he was ready, as it definitely wasn't right to try and Disarm anyone when they weren't paying attention. Not in lessons, at least.

João nodded with a little smile, right before he turned towards the professor to hear her finally let them start. Yeah, that 'd' movement... he nodded to himself. After all, it was only disarming, it was such an easy spell for someone with his knowledge... He turned back to Stella, or as she probably would prefer, Mademoiselle Gardier. With a small movement of his left hand, the wand was already out of its holster and in his hand.

"So..." he said, letting that hang in the air for a moment. So, who should go first? After one more second, he figured it was enough time to caution her too that he was shooting. She should be grateful just for that--in a real duel, the opponent would savour every moment of distraction. Raising his wand, he made the 'd' movement as he spoke the spell clearly: "Expelliarmus!" The red jet of flash left his wand. Yeah. It was easy.
