Tristan gave a nod of reassurance, taking his glove from the girl and putting it on. Thank goodness his left hand wasn't bare anymore. But now the girl was talking to him... which meant he had to respond. The boy sighed.
Closing his eyes, he tried to calm his nerves. Breathe in, breathe out. And count to ten. Opening his eyes, he popped a peppermint in his mouth, hoping it would do something for his knotted stomach. Just the thought seemed to calm him down.
"Oh yes, I'm fine," Tristen said quietly. "This goes on quite frequently--" he began to start his explanation, but stopped. Keeping his mouth shut usually guarenteed that he wouldn't get hurt. Besides, this girl probably had no interest in his anxiety issues. It was better that way anyhow.
Gosh, was something wrong with the boy? Was he going to faint? Evelyn was a little worried when she saw him close his eyes. She was about to shake him when he opened them again. She gave a silent sigh of relief.
Evelyn gave a bright smile when she started to speak again and...he stopped. Why did he seem so nervous? Was she scaring him or something? Nahh. That wasn't possible. She looked at him for a moment before she simply said,
"You can talk to me, you know."
