She said and demonstrated. "Scourgify," Gideon cast on his mortar before moving to retrieve the dock leaves. Then returning to his work station and added it to his now-surely clean mortar. He began crushing the leaves as instructed before moving once more to retrieve his Ashwinder egg, carrying it back carefully with his gloves. Cracking the egg, the 5th year added it to the mortar, following it quickly up with the fluxweed sprigs and letting out a sigh of relief as the reaction stopped like it should. Since it had been successful, Gideon dumped the contents of the mortar into his cauldron. Quote:

With his mortar now empty once more, Gideon took down the previous steps in his notes before moving onto the next step. Murtlap essence....right.... he mused looking for it amongst what he had. Finding it, he opened the bottle and went to add in the 10 drops what were needed into his brewing potion.
One...Two...Three...Four...Five...Six...Seven...Ei ght...Nine...Ten.
That was done. He then closed the bottle up and exchanged dropper for his wooden stirrer and after carefully dipping its end into his cauldron, began stirring it counter-clockwise.
One...two...three...four...five...six...seven...ei ght.
One the eight counter-clockwise stirs were through, Gideon jotted downa few things before picking up the parsley. Putting his gloved hands together palm sides connected, he crushed the leaves together and gradually let them free from his hands and into the cauldron. Quote:

"Next steps... Pull your wooden spoon, and add 3 spoonfulls of raw honey..." She looked over to the Gryffindor prefect. "It doesn't have to be perfectly measured... you just add it by eye." She showed the students how to do it, letting the hot liquid melt off all the honey from the spoon. "Take 5 basil leaves and slice them thin, as thin as you can, with your silver knife." And she did what she said to the letter. "Now what you want to do is take a papaya, whole and with the same silver knife, stab the fruit and stuff some of the basil in the wound. Keep stabbing until you make enough holes for all of the basil. Then add it to the mixure. Whole."
1 whole Papaya Why did he feel like this class seemed to be going far faster then usual? Gideon wasn't sure if it was just him, but it certainly felt that way as he worked to keep up on all they were being told and showed what to do to brew the potion correctly. He took a deep breath and pushed through, pulling the spoon and adding the 3 spoonfuls of honey. "Scourgify," he cast on his knife before cutting up the basil leaves. The Gryffindor slicing them as thin as he possibly could without cutting himself. Wound the papaya? That was a new one, the 5th year absently shaking his head and mimicing the professor's actions as close as he could.
Stab...stuff...stab...stuff...stab...stuff...until all the basil was within the papaya. Gideon then carefully dropping the whole fruit into the potion as shown to avoid accidentally splashing.
There...so far so good.
