Don't Cross the Book | who turned out the | Lights Lennox
Jez stormed into the dorms, heading straight for her bed without so much as a glance at the other girls. Nate's words rang in her ears. Jared seems to be getting a little trigger-happy ... that made her feel worse, if it were possible, because it was true. Jared was killing unnecessarily. Jordan had helped them, that was true, but that didn't mean his little brother had to die. Jez remembered Pam's blue features, less noticeable these days since she seemed to have more control over her meta powers. She remembered Nate crying into her shoulder when he'd gotten the note about his parents. It made her angry beyond hell at Team Wolf and their leader, but also extremely guilty. Option 3 resurfaced in her mind, but she pushed it away. It wasn't possible anymore, not without Keegan or Des to help her. Jez wasn't that good at magic yet, and especially not Memory Charms. So now Option 2 was looking inviting.
Jez pulled her backpack form her trunk, stuffing jeans and shirts into it, leaving the front pocket free. She didn't have many special things - no jewellery or ornaments. But she did have photos. The Black family, complete and happy; Jez and Than on a broomstick, Jez holding her brother tightly around the waist as he swooped, laughing; her, Keegan and Des, the only Blacks left but still managing smiles; Pam, Sam and Jasper; Nate and his parents; Nate, Pam and Jez together in the tree. Six photos, but many memories. Jez put them in the front pocket along with her purse filled with money, and the ugly clock necklace, its face broken. Jez pulled on Scott's jacket, slightly surprised it still fit her after her growth spurt, and swung the backpack over her shoulders. She ran out of the dorms, trying not to think too much about the future or she'd have serious second thoughts.
