"You've been spending far too much time hobnobbing with old men, Professor. My hearing is perfectly good." And she was unpleasant.
And her
beau was an old man. Yes. He'd said it. And a politician to boot.

We all just live in the Staff Room day in and day out, sleeping on the chairs and using the coffee pot as a toilet." It really added a little kick the the coffee. Dash took a sip of his tea before giving.
Oh, hmm. Tate raised his coffee cup and eyed the brew carefully before shrugging. The man was unpleasant, it was true, but even he could find his way to one of the castle's many bathrooms.
"I'd watch my tone, Professor. There are none of you so indispensable that I have to stomach insubordination."

SECOND OF ALL, "You are NOT getting your hands on any lobalug of mine, Mrs. Minister. Not unless you're willing to pay the price." I.E. she was going to have to go down and sell herself and her offspring and her all her preciousess to the merpeople the way he had. SO.
"THIRDLY," he bellowed, forgetting that he hadn't said secondly, and just then noticing that the Headmaster and Gemma and Oliver had all joined their party. Oh. Well. He... what... Cece... Tatertot... OLIVER JENKINS!
William crossed his arms grumpily and slumped back in his seat, deliberately turning his face away from his friend in a childish pout and staring up at the ceiling. "I was not DIRECTLY addressing you, Scabbers, but thanks for answering to that ol' nickname anyway. You couldn't handle a flobberworm." Idiot.
...and Dash was NOT going to trade WILLIAM'S LOBALUG away for a stupid CUP OF TEA.
"I see you've met Professor Lafay." And reacted to her in much the same way everyone did. The woman must take lessons on antisocial behavior if she already had his new hires up at arms.
"You might try chamomile. And perhaps you can give me some advise on crup crossbreeds." Anything to calm the man a bit.

Wait! Was it even Sunday?
Tate raised an eyebrow at the man, one of those quizzical looks as if he wasn't quite sure the man was serious. "I hope your students are on whatever schedule you're on, sir."

Cece should probably thank Tate for taking care of that student for her but she would do it later. Maybe she would stop by his office for a visit at some point.
"And yet all of you get paid," Tate wasn't really trying to give them a hard time; it was just that none of them yet really understood his dry sense of humor. Lafay because she didn't have one herself, and the rest because they were mostly too green to have experienced it.
"Did you get that lovely poem?"

What she hadn't been expecting was to see that the staff room was in fact... rather busy.
"Erm...." was all she could manage at the sight.
"Indeed. We're playing sardines, and it appears you've won the bout. Or perhaps Althea has won, since she didn't bother to play. Choose your prize carefully." He raised his mug to Seren and indicated she should just enter and squeeze in with the rest.
