He listened as well as he could. "I'll keep that in mind" he said.
He smiled because she understood what he was trying to say. "Exactly. I mean, it's been tough growing up as the odd boy who makes things explode just by standing there, but they seemed to completely isolate me." He grinned when she asked about his mum again. He had kind of hoped to avoid it. "She struggled a bit at first, but I think of all my family, she was the one that had kind of been suspicious already." He held up the book. "I think, though it appears to be inaccurate in places, is why she bought this book. Plus, she's my mum, I think she'll always accept me."
He was completely overwhelmed as she began to describe quidditch. He'd remembered broom flying class and his awkward attempts at staying on one. He couldn't imagine people actually being adept enough to play a sport on them. He was a ground person and was completely at ease there. Thinking of zooming through the air on a stick no larger than a broom was absolutely mind blowing to him. His only response was "Wow!"
Sophie nodded. Ian should really be careful around the Whomping Willow, but that didn't mean they should avoid the poor tree. It was a nice plant! It was just... able to hurt whoever it wanted.
Aw! People used to isolate him?? That's so sad!
"Well, probably everyone here made things explode when they were little, so nobody will think you're weird!" It was true after all. When he spoke about his mum, Sophie smiled again.
"I'm sure she will!" Mum's were great! Sophie couldn't think about how her life would be without her mum.
Ian seemed to be impressed with quidditch. Really, who wouldn't be impressed? It's so awesome!
"I know, it's so cool! I can't wait for the matches to begin!" She didn't play quidditch, but she knew she was a loooud fan!

"Oh, don't feel bad, Nate. We still have six terms here at Hogwarts! You can tryout again, as you said it yourself!" Sophie gave Nate a warm smile. Her smile almost turned into a giggle when he mentioned the muggle saying.
"That's right! The good thing about this is that you have more experience now! Maybe next year you can make the team!"
Sophie was about to look back at Ian when she had the idea.
"Oh! Nate, you know Ian, right?" Well, they shared a dorm, probably they have met each other before. She turned to Ian again.
"Ian, you know Nate?" Well, if they didn't already know each other, she had just officially introduced them! Heh!
