Sierra raised her eyebrows at the sight of the ear of corn. It was such a random thing for Professor Lafay to have in her desk, but then again, she likely already knew Sierra was allergic to corn, and then with the lesson being about allergies... Well, it all made sense now.

Sierra happened to glance to the side of her and catch Alex's smirk. Alex never smirked. A smirk to a Hufflepuff was like...a dog meow'ing or a kitten barking. It just made little to no sense. Nevertheless, she knew why he was smirking. She could feel it in her bones--he was smirking at her corn allergy. If she thought she could get away with it, she'd toss her opened bottle of ink at him.

So...what was an allergy? With her hand raised, Sierra said, "Sometimes, our bodies mistake normal, everyday things for intruders in our body. Things like flowers, nuts, or...corn should be harmless to us, but if our body overreacts and thinks it's something we shouldn't be in contact with, we get an allergy." She lowered her hand. "Then we end up with things like rashes or runny noses."
