Alex smirked to himself when Sierra said she was allergic to corn. He vaguely remembered that from growing up with her...he was pretty sure when they were like, three or so, that he'd taken great joy out of the fact that he was better at something than Sierra. Even if that something was eating corn. Now he didn't even like corn so it didn't matter anymore. His allergy was more lethal anyways--Sierra could easily throw flowers in his face if she wanted to annoy him. Throwing corn in Sierra's face would not only make him look stupid but it wouldn't produce the same affect.
Lost in his thoughts, he shook his head and then raised his hand to get back into the class. "Allergic reactions are your body's natural reaction to something that makes it sick. When you come into contact with something you're allergic to, your body goes into defense mode, which is why you have a runny nose, a cough, and stuff like that. Your body is trying to get rid of the thing that's irritating it, like it's a germ," he said. He felt bad for the people with food allergies, they got the worst of it with the blocked wind pipe and all that nasty stuff.
