As he heard her snort, he got off on a bit of a giggling fit. And then when she described her culinary skills, he softened a bit and smiled. "I'm sure your mum will help you. Does he still hang around the kitchen when your around?" he asked with a smile on his lips and a twinkle in his eye.

Ella smiled wide. Going to the kitchens seemed like a great idea and she had yet to venture down there. She shook her head up and down with a mischievous smile. "Yes, that would be great!... You don't think we'll get in trouble for that do you?" She was just a first year and didn't want to lose house points but she did love an adventure.

Ella felt the corners of her mouth moving into a smile and bit her lip when Ian asked about how her dog was doing. Oh, we're joking now are we? That's a good sign. She pretended to be offended, grabbing her chest dramatically. "Why I never!" She couldn't hold back her amusement though, and began to laugh. "She-well she still stays near the exits when I'm in the kitchen...can't say I blame her!" She smiled at Ian, happy to have a new friend to joke around with.
