Did it really matter? If they were going to carry on a conversation, he thought it was...but then she seemed to continue it with no problems so perhaps-

Atticus blinked once. Twice. Exactly what did she mean by that? And what was with the hair flipping and twirling? Even after all those years of having a girl as his best friend, he still didn't understand them. He especially didn't now though considering he hadn't seen said best friend in many years - and he never would again. This thought reminded him that Amy had asked him a question.

"I'm not upset," he answered. "Just tired."

Perhaps he wasn't as honest as he liked to think he was.
