She looked back at the ground and continued to fidget, hoping he would say something because she didn't know what to say anymore.

Ellie's sudden outburst surprised Dallin, and he looked at her. She was sorry. Dallin opened his mouth to say 'It's okay,' but shut it quickly. It wasn't okay, and he wanted her to say more than just I'm sorry. Because what did that mean to him? She was sorry for everything. That was very general. Vague. Where did 'everything' start? When they met? Fought? Broke up?

He looked away again. Try as he might, he couldn't find the words he wanted to say. And he really did try. He didn't want to just sit here and have Ellie do all the talking. But all he was thinking was how just being around her was making him go insane. Because he wanted to tell her he missed her... and that he wanted her back. And he wanted to kiss her. But he couldn't do or say any of that.

So... he kept quiet.
