Because your former number was seven and if you add the two, you'll have thirteen. And 1 plus 3 ain't six.." Beatrice said. His calculations were wrong?
Gideon tried to think it over as he listened to the younger girl explain why she was correcting him. The boy shaking his head when he registered she too was off. "Nah...my original personal day was 7...my personal month, the number ye use for the calculations is 8. so 6 +8 is..." He was about to say the correct answer of 14 but the Gryffindor stopped when he realized she was right about him being wrong just for the wrong reason. "It should be October 7th....so 7+8 is 15 which when reduced is 6" he said with a satisfied nod that it was correct this time around. "Thanks for pointing out I might have been mistaken," Gideon said to the girl, giving her credit for catching it where credit was due. Even if it had been just a little off. Quote:

And then she again saw the older boy wondering about the calculations. She went over and tagged him.. "Number one now, fellow-lion!" she said to him, "Redo you calculations!" Not that it mattered that he was now correct for being a six. Gideon was now a one thanks to the next girl to tag him. The 5th year working it out in his head and wishing he had grabbed a parchment and quill instead, he finally cam up with what he thought was right. "October 2nd," he said seeing as he couldn't think of anything besides 2 that gave him a number that reduced to 1. Hmm...maybe I should take a break, he mused eyeing a desk nearby and discretly making his way over.
