Nate took the pictures from Jordan and stuffed them in his pocket. No way he was about to look at those again. "Thanks," he muttered. This situation sucked. It thoroughly sucked. Releasing Jez, he took a step back. "One thing that's for sure is that we need to stick together. If we're going to die, I don't want to go down without a fight."
Something about what Nate had said reminded Jez of something she'd been meaning to ask him about. "You went to the Headmaster's office a few days ago," she said, folding her arms and fixing him with a cool, hard Look. "The Arithmancy classroom and the girls' bathroom are on the same floor," she added quickly by way of clarification as to how she knew. He should know Arithmancy was one of her favourite classes. "I saw you go up." She glanced at Jordan, remembering that as a Gryffindor he wasn't a regular guest to the Ravenclaw common room. "Nate wanted to tell Tate about our little problem," she explained, referring to the whole murder/hostage/blackmail scenario. She looked back at Nate, her face unreadable. "What did you tell him?" Because he couldn't have gone up there just for a nice chat, that's for sure ...
