Paulie waited for Professor Hadley's comment about this 'look,' and when she did answer, it wasn't very convincing. No surprise there, because there was no look. She was just making things more and more awkward! Aah well. She read it wrong; big deal. Paulie shook his head in response, then moved over to put on some rubber gloves.
Of course they would make them wait to find out what the second task was. Paulie had a feeling they would do this. The sixth year headed over towards the wall, but he grinned and glanced back at Hadley when she suggested that 'Little John' was a term of endearment. He looked to Professor Roslund, a guy, and lifted an eyebrow to see if he agreed with this logic. "'Helen's part of her nickname. I give everyone nicknames," he explained, turning back to the wall and picking up a soapy sponge. Perhaps he ought to come up with some for THOSE two adults over there. Yeah, he bet they were the real library lovers here.
When the slime oozed onto the little bits of the wall that were already cleaned, Paulie figured they better follow Hadley's suggestion. Not that he wouldn't work with Louisa anyhow. He gave a snort at the very first comment Louisa directed at him. "Oh, shucks. I was so set on whispering sweet nothings to you while we smell nasty smells and clean grime off a dungeon wall." He flashed her an amused smile. Still, he found it ironic that the only thing he did whisper to Louisa in the library was his hope that she and Adam get together. And yet here he was, stuck in Lovers' Lair.
"Okay," he said simply, in response to her cleaning the bottom and he the top. That made sense. He began scrubbing away and away until he felt a bunch of water slosh onto his shoe. He looked down at his feet, then to Louisa. Oh, TWO could play this game. After blatantly extending his arm over towards her, sponge in hand, he squeezed the thing really hard so all the dirty soapy water dripped onto the side of her long, beige shirt. "Oops, did I do that?" He smirked and scrubbed some more. Okay, this slime was harder to get off than he thought!
